28 March 2025 – the second day of the 16th edition of the international GastroPan exhibition, the largest exhibition for the bakery, pastry, confectionery, gelato, chocolate, milling and HoReCa industries in Romania, brought new innovations and revolutionary solutions. This year, the event continues to be the place where changes in the industry become visible to specialists in the field. Exhibitors presented top products, technologies and solutions for every specialist in the industry and visitors, old and new, had the opportunity to learn about the differences between technological processes through discussions with exhibitors from the country and beyond.
Bread of the Year 2025 – artisanal: banat pita with whole meal flour and potatoes
The exhibition's much-anticipated competition, the Bread of the Year 2025 made artisanal, brought together artisan bakers from all over the country with simple, natural, tasty products that were appreciated by the jury members. Among the products were features such as combining rye flour with hazelnuts, using sweet potatoes or sheep's curd, but the bread that impressed the most was the Banat pita with whole meal flour and potatoes, which represented the bakery's 30th anniversary. It was made from slowly ground whole meal flour, Banat potatoes and natural sourdough, making it a bread without additives.

Bread of the Year 2025 - industrial: Rye Flour Bread
In the Bread of the Year 2025 made industrial category, participants came up with products that are made in a minimum quantity of 500 kg/day, which means that the natural ingredients, continuity and quality are constant all the time. There were simple breads with potatoes, made in a length of one meter, but the one that was considered to be the best industrially produced bread was the rye flour bread characterized by the use of wild yeast, flour scalded at 80 degrees C and other natural ingredients.
